Zabaione is a tasty cream made from eggs, sugar and fortified wine. Several stories and legends have been born about its origins. According to one of these, the eggnog was born in Turin in the sixteenth century at the hands of the Spanish monk Pasquale de Baylon, who later became a patron saint of cooks and pastry chefs. And it is precisely from a "distortion" of San de Baylon that the Piedmontese term sambajonwould have been born, or eggnog.
