Meliga pastas are pastry biscuits that are widespread throughout western Piedmont.
The origins of this cookie are very ancient and difficult to date, but they are assumed to date back to the peasant culture of Cuneo.
It is said that meliga pastes were prepared in October, using the first freshly ground corn flour. It is no coincidence that the term "meliga" derives from "melia" or "meria", words with which piedmontese farmers still indicate maize today.

Ingredients: corn balloon, stone ground corn flour, sugar, butter,margarine, eggs,salt, vanillin, lemon zest. May contain traces of hazelnut or nuts.
